Pre-race routine:

The meeting place, Leah's was for 5:30 am just in case there where any waits at the border. We were on our way by 5:45 and had no issues at the border as, I'm pretty sure, eveyone else was still sleeping!! We got down with PLENTY of time to WAIT! I ate my oatmeal and drank my coffee on the drive down- Thanks Aud for driving!! we kept warm in the SUV! Got our race packages and got back in the SUV!! When some of the other runners showed up from the Runner's Den, I got out and chatted, visited the washroom and then got warm in the SUV again! The girls watched a pretty cool looking bike movie, The Cycle of Life (?) I caught the beginning and the end- it looked cool!!
Event warmup:

Ummmm.. warm up? It was pretty cold so we got out of the SUV, got into the race line, jumped up and down, just kept moving and then started the race. This might be why my toes were frozen! Need to work on this "warmup' thing a bit more!!
Run

Comments:

Farily good run! Just the head wind coming back was pretty bad!
What would you do differently?:

Warmup better. Layer a little different! As soon as you got off the water, the sun was very warm!!
Post race
Warm down:

Warm down..... kinda like my warmup! Stretched a bit, listened to the top runners get their awards, changed, went for breaky and then went SHOPPING!! We were already down there and our $$ was worth more!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The cold start and the headwind coming back!

Event comments:

A touch disorganized as they tried to get the faster runners up front but it got worked out. It was just very cold at the start and when you got away from the water, the sun was warm! Not much to do afterwards but I AM glad they had a 'real' washroom!!

Performance: Good
Avg HR 182 MAX HR was 193 cals: 1078
Course: The slight downhill start was hard on the frozen feet. It was flat along the water with slow rolling hills through the residential area to the turn around point and back. The 'lovely' short but steep hill near the finish line really sucks!
