Run
Comments: It was a last minute decision to do the race. I was going to cheer on a friend doing the 1/2 mary, then Vinette and I decided to do the 8k as a training run, not exactly a race. I ran the first three miles with Vinette and then found my own pace. I felt really good today, I kinda wish my goal had been to actually RACE. In the last quarter mile, I was surprised (and perturbed) that people who had finished the race looped back and ran in the opposite direction of the racers ON THE RACE COURSE. I guess they were running back to find their running buddies. But I think it was dangerous and rude to be on the course, especially in the narrow sections, going the wrong way. I assumed that a woman running the wrong way in my running lane would yield to me, she did not and we collided hard (which I knew was going to happen if she did not yield). She gave me a what the f&*% look, I did my best to act as if the collision was a total surprise to me (it wasn't...forgive me Father) and said I said sweetly, "I'm sorry, excuse me" before continuing on my way. I don't usually do things like that, but on a race course, during a race, finishers should have courtesy for those still racing. What would you do differently?: Throw a harder block ;) Post race
Warm down: Walking around at the post-race area. What limited your ability to perform faster: My pre-race decision to take it very easy. Event comments: Very fun event! The band was fun, the swag plentiful, volunteers everywhere! Vinette won a really nice medal. She got third in her age group (55-59). This was Dana's second half marathon and she set a PR! Next year- the half marathon! (First 2 pics are Vinette and me. Second picture is Dana (red shirt) finishing the 1/2 mary.) Last updated: 2006-03-23 12:00 AM

Up at 6:31 am, had alarm set for 6:45 so I shut it off, got up, and showered and dressed.
Had coffee, 16 oz water, whole wheat toast and PB sandwich.
Arrived early to watch Dana start the 1/2 marathon at 9:00.
Bopped around to the great band playing on the stage to keep warm.
Jogged around in the park to get warm. It was rather chilly.
