Swim
Comments: Good swim. Crowded. Lots of kelp. Narrow course with a lot of bumping, kicking, hitting... What would you do differently?: Start out more near front. Catch heels of first three out and stay out of pack Transition 1
Comments: Cold from swim. Hands and feet numb. Hard to run / handle things What would you do differently?: Shake out hands to get blood moving on run to T1. More body glide on ankles to allow better wetsuit removal. Quicker strides and same pace to warm up on way to T1 Bike
Comments: Cold and drizzly, avg. Pac Grove weather. Good bike leg felt strong. What would you do differently?: GU on bike instead of all liquid. Maybe 1 bottle and 1 GU Transition 2
Comments: Good transition even though feet still numb and really cold What would you do differently?: Feet out of shoes earlier. Run
Comments: Nice short run, was able to really go for it What would you do differently?: Hit it harder next year. No time to wait and warm up, just go Post race
Warm down: fluids, jog, get on warm clothes and stretch What limited your ability to perform faster: too much liquid while racing, very cold and tight. Need more warm up next time Event comments: Awesome race in an awesome location. Need more after race support, but hard within time frame. Weather a factor as it was sunny and warm one day and foggy and drizzly the next (typical Monterey weather) Will do this race again Last updated: 2011-03-03 12:00 AM
