Pre-race routine:

Showed up at 545, a little later than I had planned but plenty early. Went over to bodymarking, already a decent line. Set up my transition area went back out to walk around a little. Ate a few Fig Newton's, and applied lots of sunscreen. Next time I need to remember to put the sunscreen on before bodymarking, my numbers were a mess. Then waited at the swim start.
Event warmup:

Just some light walking, and stretching.
Swim
  • 37m 19s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good effort level for the swim. Nice and easy.
What would you do differently?:

Should have seeded myself more towards the front. I ended up swimming wide to get around most of the wave. Get a wetsuit!!
Transition 1
  • 02m 52s
Comments:

No suit to take off, did not leave shoes on the pedals. I have been practicing but did not feel comfortable with it on race day.
What would you do differently?:

Don't run so quickly out of the water.
Bike
  • 2h 58m 8s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.86 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Push just a little harder on the second loop. First loop I averaged 19mph ended up with a little less than that overall.
Transition 2
  • 02m 24s
Comments:

Did not take my feet out of my shoes because the transition area was wet and didn't want to get my socks wet.
What would you do differently?:

Bike and/or run without socks.
Run
  • 2h 24m 33s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Overheated around mile 8. Cooled down with some ice but it wasn't enough. My stomach became upset from drinking too much/I was too hot.
What would you do differently?:

Bring my own water so I can sip and not down two or three cups at each aid station. Get ice at every aid station when it's that hot.
Post race
Warm down:

Post race stretch. Some walking. More stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HEAT. Not enough practice in hot weather, poor cooling planning. Poor hydration at times.

Event comments:

Not enough water stations for me, but lots for most people. I need to sip while I run or I drink too much too fast. Very hot!!
