Swim
Comments: The swim went very well, I did the time I wanted. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Took my time to get socks on and take a gu before I left What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: The ride started out very nice, I kept playing leap frog with a couple guys. Five miles in I was watching a guy pass a couple of other guys and was planning on passing with him. He lost a bottle and I was watching it so I wouldn't hit it and ended up hitting something else. Ended up blowing my front tire, it had a 1/2" gash in it. I replaced the tube and decided to keep going and was hoping the tire would hold up. 15 miles in I blew the tube in the front tire. I sat on the side of the road for around 20 to 30 minutes until a friend showed up and helped me out. We put a gu wrapper behind the tear to protect the tube. Patched the tube and I was off. I didn't know how long it would last so I pushed the pace. It took my around 2 hours to do the first 23 miles and 1:15 to go back. I was way excited to finish the bike, because I thought my race was done. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: In and out just as fast as I could go What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I felt really good at the first of the run. I walked a little before mile one, then ran all the way to the aid station. Drank some heed and dumped some water on me. I stopped and removed some sand from my sock so I didn't get blisters. I ran most of the way to the aid station at mile 4 and drank some more and dumped more water on me. It was very hot and I was starting to really feel it. I started to do a run walk because my stomach was really bugging me. At mile 6 I ate some oranges and dumped more water on me. I started running with a guy that looked famillar to me from a marathon I had ran. It actually ended up being him. I told him how I was feeling and he offered my some c caps. By mile 11 my stomach was feeling alot better. We both enjoyed the company and decided to finish the run together. His goal was to finish under 7 hours and my goal was already shot so I told him we could do it. We did a run walk for the rest of the race until the last 1/2 mile. We went for it, I ended up finishing a little before him and ran across the line with my son. What would you do differently?: Take c caps with me, I haven't heard of them until I meet Bill. Post race
Warm down: Sat in the lake for awhile and did it feel good. What limited your ability to perform faster: Two flats on the bike and the heat caused me to sweat alot more then I planned. Causing my to be low on sodium. Event comments: Good race, I was suprised to see them take down the finish before everyone finished. Last updated: 2011-03-05 12:00 AM
