Run
Comments: Nice light showers as we started across the bridge kept us cool. Good mental challenge for me as I wasn't feeling rarin' to go. Met a few nice folks along the way. Was sorry Mel wasn't able to run. Would have enjoyed meeting her in person. What would you do differently?: Generally pretty happy. Without the drive and having a taper would have improved time, but a solid run, well under 2 hours. Post race
Warm down: Just a stretch and a gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: No taper, pretty long bike the day before, and a long ride in the car. Event comments: Okay, I just have to say it... the two half marathons I've raced are the Hooters Half Mary and the McDonald's Half Marathon... anyone else find this somewhat ironic? Was running this as a training run. Did not taper and, after a 17 hour drive on Friday and 20 mi bike ride yesterday, was not worried about the time at all. But the event was supporting Moffit Cancer Center where they took good care of my Dad, so the cause was an important one for me. I was glad that the timing of our trip to Florida allowed me to run it.
Up at 5:00, but moving slowly and then had to rush at the end. 2 cups of coffee and some yogurt.
Just some stretching and walking. 1st mile would be warm-up
