Pre-race routine:

Woke up two hours before the race, drank a Nestle meal-replacement drink, ate a muffin and chugged some gatorade.

Not too much really. Waded in the water, did some warmup exercies, hit the race.

The sun made it tough to see the buoys, but I could sight decently and just tried to stay behind a couple other swimmers.

Warm down:

Walked around a bit, ate some bagels and peanut butter and had my old lady stretch me out for about ten minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The fact that it was my first tri, now I know a little better when I can pick it up and not try to pace myself so much.

Course: Course was mostly flat, windy and cold as hell. My feet were numb the whole ride, and I had some torn tendons in a toe that was killing me. Overall though I'm happy with my time for my first race.

Course: Course was some road and dirt path. The two laps made it easy to pace and once I finished the first lap I knew exactly when I could blow it out for the next lap. Loved this leg of the race.
