Swim
Comments: Wasnt a horrible swim for me. Was pulling to the left a bit so really had to pay attention to get going the right way. Pretty uneventful really. Lake was pretty decent this year. What would you do differently?: Im just a crappy swimmer and I dont swim that straight :( Transition 1
Comments: This went fine. I was in no real rush. Been there done that. Oh... the wetsuit strippers were nice! What would you do differently?: nada Bike
Comments: This was OK... I really had a plan to stick to about 180 watts which is about 80%. Really wanted to go easy on the bike so I could have a decent run once. Launched a bottle which I didnt realize luckily the next aid station wwasnt too far away. Was a bit windy but not horrible. Course was hillier then I remember.... Ended up at like 172 watts and ave hr was only 152. My ave bike hr at my last IM was 153 soooo...thinking I SHOULD have had a better run. Oh well should have maybe just hammered the bike:) Had 1 bottle of infinit 1 bottle of gatorade (from the course to make up for my launched bottle) a little water (which I also picked up :)) and a waffle honey stinger..yum. prob close to 600 cal. Which is pretty good What would you do differently?: I dont know... did what I had planned so... Transition 2
Comments: just a transition. Went fine. Legs felt pretty good. Run
Comments: Got my legs back about 3 miles in. The first hill was a bitch...seemed way longer then I remember! Made my first mile a 9:02. Was pretty consistent at about 8:20 for most of the loop. Tried to stay zone 2 in hopes of not falling apart and picking it up the 2cnd half. I really felt good the 1st half too. Was kind of lonely out there too. 2cnd lap much more people out there...which was nice... Ikinda like to talk...distracts me. ALthough I wasnt finding to many people at my pace pr too many peoiple not suffering enough to talk back oh well! Was harder teh 2cnd loop and hr was up a bit. gOt to mile 10 and kind of fell apart.. Pace slowed to 8:40s but I just told myself the big downhill was coming so hang in there. Well the down hill really wasnt that much fun:) Was glad to be done. 3 gels 2 endurolytes water What would you do differently?: Maybe more cal? I did one every 3.5 miles. I dont know why I cant run off the bike. I should be running at least a 1:45. Studied my PT bike profile for a while trying to figure it out. Dont know...maybe should have ran harder the 1st loop? Maybe I just suck at running:) Post race
Warm down: sat down and died for a minuite:) Then Tracy scooped me up and we had beer...ok she had beer I had choc milk:) Was happy to podium and pr. What limited your ability to perform faster: ummm...you tell me. Event comments: Iknow I sound negative but I was happy with this. Well had normal breakfast of pbj...drove to the race and met my girl Tracy. She was great to be out there cheering for me all day!!!
Talked to some people I knew....ummm yep thjats it.
Tried to get a quick swim in but tran out of time. Was in the 1st wave so off I went.
