Pre-race routine:

Got up to feed dogs and had a bowl of cereal with a banana and a glass of OJ. Laid on the couch for a little longer. Left house ~8:15 am. Snow banks made parking more tricky than I remembered. Found a spot, walked to church to register and then walked back to car. Definitely over-dressed! Took off long sleeve tech shirt that was under my other top.
Event warmup:

Ran from car back to church ~0.5 mile; then people watched and waited for the start

Comments:

I am 2 weeks out from my next marathon, so I intended this to be a tempo run. I was aiming for comfortably hard and not all out racing. I felt really good and splits were fairly even. I felt like I passed more people than I got passed by. The weather was nice (sun coming out!!). Ran without gloves, but wore earband to keep hair out of face. Also of note, this was my first race in the 40-49 category!!
What would you do differently?:

Check weather first and bring capris or shorts and a lighter weight top. Oh and remember to wear something green!!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, went inside to partake of the spread (and free beer!)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Timing in taper. Didn't want to risk running all out and getting hurt before marathon. I was ~ 1:30 slower than the fastest I have run this race.

Event comments:

I really like this race. It's a nice start to the early spring racing season with lots of people and a different distance from the standard 5K. The spread afterward is the best I've seen at least around here for a race of this size/distance.
