Swim
Comments: I felt good about this one really. Pretty rough for about 250m, until I moved out from behind a wall of 3 guys. Drafting was good out, but none back in. I did not have any issues breathing. Came out feeling pretty good, just light in the head What would you do differently?: Push harder coming back in? Transition 1
Comments: Fastest transition ever. Bike
Comments: Took a wrong turn out of the subdivision and added an extra .5 miles plus a nasty hill. Otherwise I would have easily hit 21mph avg. Passed by one guy who I knew I couldn't keep up with, ended up with 1st in the age group. Passed a few guys on my own and let the hammer drop coming back in. Had a bottle of gatoraid I sipped on to keep the mouth from getting too dry. What would you do differently?: Not take a wrong turn as it added a good minute to the time. On the positive side, I can tell my interval work is paying off as I am holding off folks and passing them too. Transition 2
Comments: Fumbled for a second but made it fine Run
Comments: Started fine, but fast. I thought this was fine since that is what you are supposed to do in a sprint, but stomach cramps quickly caught up to me. I had to stop and walk a few times to keep them down. Horrifically embarrassing, and its what cost me an AG placing. Not sure what caused them, but they eventually subsided and I had a good finish. What would you do differently?: No cramps, more speed work to improve that time. Run is my limiter. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and socialized. I need to do more of this, it makes race day a lot more fun when you enjoy it with others. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramps, wrong turn. I am trying to be a bit more positive when it comes to racing. Second race in a row where I was happy with performance, despite less then perfect racing and placing. I just know that if I do not start to enjoy the essence of tris, I won't be able to last. Just smile at the end and enjoy the day. Event comments: I'll probably be back again: its a toss up between this one and the Rock n'Rollman sprint in Macon. Both are excellently run and equally challenging. Last updated: 2011-03-10 12:00 AM

Woke up pretty late, but had the car packed already so it was no big deal. I knew Newnan was only about an hour away, so I was not too worried about it. Listened to some good music to get excited/wake up. It was nice driving with the sun coming up for once. Parked a good ways away from transition, so I made sure to have the essentials with me and walked down to the site. I wanted to keep this one simple and clean.
About a mile of running, 200m of swimming to test things out. I knew it was going to be hot, but power through and it will be over before you know it
