Swim
Comments: started inside 2nd row, age group had about 175 people in it. From the get go was getting beat up. I could not get away from the beating, I went inside and there was a guy brest stroking fast he kicked me a few times, then moved outside after the first turn and keep drifting out. coming back in got beat around again and could not see. This was by far my worst swim I have never been in the 40's just could not get on track. I'm still trying to figure out what happen. What would you do differently?: I guess start on the outside, since this is the second race in a row I have not swam well in traffic. start wide and hammer get into a rythmn and then move in. Transition 1
Comments: I took my time once to the bike, I decided not to wear a tri top, but instead a running shirt so it took a little time plus putting on socks What would you do differently?: not much Bike
Comments: felt good and was biking well through mile 50, then hit the wall. Not sure what happen but I just ran out of gas. The last 6 miles I only averaged 16 mph, up until that point I was at 21.5. Hamstrings and outer hips were hurting. What would you do differently?: More group ride training and longer rides with more intensity. I just did not have the fitness level for 56 today. Transition 2
Comments: Feeling as bad as I did coming off the bike, I decided to walk the entire T2 and get my self a chance to get my legs back What would you do differently?: nothing I would move faster if my bike fitness was there. Run
Comments: I really had my sites on a sub 1:45 and rolled through mile 1 at 7:30, but that was the end of that. I just felt like crap and ended up walking every aid station. The heat was just getting to me other than that I really didn't have too many issues. This was just a mental break down from the swim and bike, knowing I wasn't going to break 5 hours, I think I just gave up and went into survial mood What would you do differently?: keep moving through aid station and not spend so much time walking. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim no idea, bike lack of hard group rides that I have done in the past and long hard rides. Run lack of running miles and mental toughness Event comments: It was a nice day and the volunteers were awesome. There is no doubt I can break 5hrs on this course, but today I just did not have it and once again learn some hard knock leasons. The day was electric and Ironman put a big time feel on the race.
