Post race
Warm down: Walked around the park for a while and watched my friend do her survivor lap for the first time. This was a huge emotional hurdle for her to overcome I think. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat really got to me, but I made the best of it and kept going. Event comments: With luck we'll be back again next year. I run this race with the same friend I did the 5 mile race with last weekend. And so I drove to CT on Friday to spend the night before the event on Saturday Morning. We didn't drink much, but we spent alot of time talking about the last 5 years and how far she has come since she was first diangosed with stage 3 breast Cancer.
When we got to Hartford we were surprised by the amount of people. It seemed like so many more than the past few years. Our observation was confirmed when at the start line it was announced that there were 8,000 runners for the 5k. Astoundingly that means that they grossed nearly $25,000 on the 5k race alone, let alone all the donations people brought with them. It was heart warming.
