Comments: Despite all of the planning, I went out a bit too fast in the first mile, but not seriously so. I did not anticipate how rough the shorter, steeper hills would be on the calves and quads. I was fighting cramps in both of them on the last two miles. What would you do differently?: Train more for the shorter, steeper bursts. More general overall conditioning. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and weight and perhaps the cold weather. I still am not sure I am completely used to that yet. Event comments: It is a well run race. Stayed in car and tried to stay warm. Made bad decision to throw on another shirt before the start. Stick with the plan!
If huddling in the car trying to stay warm counts as warm-up, then yeah I did one. :-)
