Swim
Comments: Started on the front but way to the outside then moved farther outside once we started moving. This worked well for me, found space, didn't panic at all, no need to BS or catch my breath. What would you do differently?: Move back into the pack sooner to draft and be tighter on the bouys Transition 1
Comments: Bodyglide helped the wetsuit not get stuck too bad on my ankles. Guy next to my put his bag under my bike and left his wetsuit on my shoes, had to deal with that. What would you do differently?: Run harder into transition, it was a long run around the parking lot. Bike
Comments: Might have pushed too hard going up the second hill, but I wanted to drop a group of guys blatently drafting. Left my computer on distance instead of cadence and tried to keep my percived rate comfortably hard. What would you do differently?: Not let the group of drafters bother me, but it still does today, a full day after the race. Transition 2
Comments: Same guy next to me put his bike on the wrong side, caused me to pause looking for my stuff. What would you do differently?: Get better at getting my shoes on while dropping my helmet Run
Comments: Wanted to catch the three drafters that were in front of me leaving transition. Only able to get one, but slowly reeled in others. Had more energy but felt the speed wasn't there in my legs. What would you do differently?: Not tell the guy I was about to pass with 50 yards left that I needed room, finished half a step behind him. Post race
Warm down: Stretch, hit the lake to cool down. Wait, wait, wait for transition to open. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough speed work on the bike or with running. Event comments: Too many numbers to put on everything, but no number for age on calf sucks. Website got very bare bones when OHP took it over. Transition way too small, 8 bikes per rack was crowded, didn't like having to run all the way around an empty parking lot that could have been used for more transition room. Liked having a vegetarian option for pst race food, big plus for that and the nice swag. Flat and fast course is fun sometimes, and I liked the temp tattoos instead of markers for body marking. What I'm going to remember is the under-utilized transition space, and lack of drafting penalties. Probably had my expectations too high for a race that advertised 2 or 3x MN race of the year.
