Total Time = 1h 00m
Overall Rank = 8/40
Age Group = under 40
Age Group Rank = 7/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 0615, ate a bagel w/ peanut butter and honey, bowl of granola w/ milk and drank a glass of orange juice. Arrived at Lifetime at 0715. I received registration materials/instructions, set up transition in my locker and relaxed.
Event warmup:

5-10 minutes of stretching before the swim.
Swim
  • 10m
  • 525 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

Since I was only able to swim once since New Years due to illness/asthma, I was pretty happy with being able to finish 21 lengths. It's a great baseline measurement!
Transition 1
  • 10m
Comments:

Since indoor-tri, had a full 10 minutes of transition with no pressure. Had socks already placed in shoes rolled for ease of putting on, but feet were able to dry.
Bike
  • 30m
  • 15.3 miles
  • 30.60 mile/hr
Comments:

Performed on indoor spin bike, with regular running shoes and cages. The tension on the bike was set very low, almost could have used some tension to make it easier for peddling.
What would you do differently?:

Set more tension on bike.
Transition 2
  • 05m
Comments:

Indoor tri, so again no pressure on transition. Kept my same running shoes on from the bike.
Run
  • 20m
  • 2.41 miles
  • 08m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

I started off at a good 7mph pace, picked it up to 7.5mph for 5 min, then dropped it down to 7mph again. Over the last 3 min I progressively bumped pace up to finish at 8.5mph pace.
What would you do differently?:

Start off a little slower, say 6-6.5 and then slowly increase speed so by the end I am at top speed, without ever slowing down.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked a lap and did some light stretching. Drank water and ate a banana. Scrambled eggs/hashbrown/pineapple and water once home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Having only been able to get back to the gym 2 weeks ago due to illness did greatly impacted how well I was able to perform, though I'm quite happy with what I was able to accomplish. I would really like to work on stretching more.

Event comments:

I had a great time and it was a great way to prepare myself for future "real" triathlons. Overall I'm very happy with how I performed, given my lack of ability to train ahead of time.
