Run
Comments: Great day for a race on the NCR trail with the exception of the winds. 15-20 mph winds that picked up on the latter half of the race. My calves started cramping towards the last three miles right when the wheels started to fall off. If they hadn't this could have been a sub 1:29. Great small race and fantastic spirit. The BOMF group was extremely supportive and it felt great to be part of such a positive group. Plus, there's no time on the NCR trail quite like early spring. What would you do differently?: I need to resolve this cramping issue in my calves. It first happened during the last few miles of the Baltimore marathon and might be a lingering injury. It might also be related to the Newtons. Either way, I am headed to PT. Post race
Warm down: 38 mile bike ride in northern Baltimore County. Probably not the best idea after a PR and the cramping, but I needed the miles. Great ride up to Rocks State Park. I definitely enjoyed the stretch through Houcks Mill Rd. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was supposed to be a simple training run but the competitive spirit left me with a PR by about 15 seconds. The main issue I had was the cramping late in the race. I was passed in the last mile and couldn't respond even though I had the energy. Thoroughly depressing. Event comments: Great small race with a large post race spread and activities. It felt good to be connected with such a great cause. Last updated: 2011-03-20 12:00 AM
