Run
Comments: Ran the first lap on my own, pretty aggressive pace, but within my fitness level (so I thought). Had a pacer for the second lap that kept my pace in check and was probably the only reason I was able to finish the race. By the time the third lap rolled around I was toast. LOTS of walking the third lap. I fell a total of six times during the race and 5 were on the last lap. I basically slid on my ass down the biggest downhill on the course and just laid at the bottom trying to decide whether or not it was worth it to get up and 'run' the last few miles. Nutrition - 1 shot block every 20 minutes + the occasional snack at the aid stations. Really felt like I had plenty of nutrition. What would you do differently?: Probably be trained for a 50k instead of a 25k.=) Post race
Warm down: Laid in the snow unable to move for about 15 minutes, then felt pretty decent so I went to the finish line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Experience, training, the usual. Event comments: Loved my first 'mini ultra'. I'll reserve calling myself an ultrarunner until after I do a 50 miler. I love trail running more than anything. Will definitely be returning to this one next year...Hopefully more prepared. Last updated: 2011-03-23 12:00 AM

Pretty much the same as always. Woke up, ate some breakfast, hit the jon, and walked to the start line.
None...at all.
