Pre-race routine:

Just got to the Park about an hour early to make sure I had an easy access spot. With 400 runners going to day I envisoioned alot of congestion with cars but never had anything interfere with my prep.
Event warmup:

Light jog up o the chute and back.
Run
  • 1h 27m
  • 7.5 miles
  • 11m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

Started off close to the front to try and avoid getting caught to far behind people. Unfortunately 10 minutes into the race I felt I had already tapped my energy. Had to slow the pace and I think I walked a couple hills following others? Once we got to the opening past the 2 mile marker it was just try to catch a slow tempo and keep going.... the legs were not there though. The highlight of the run was coming back. On a downhill I tried placing my foot on an exposed root and slipped causing
the root to tear up my shin and thigh. The good thing is I didn't twist anything and it was just a nice scrape and strawberry. Outside of the last mile consisted of cramps in both calves!!!!! Thought I had that issue figured out. All and All I feel beat but this is my best time in this race so I can't complain. And this is still my favorite race of the year!!!!

Post race
Warm down:

Went back to the starting line and watched as others finished. Got some bananas and oranges. Then did not see any other food so just took off

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not sure felt a bit off to begin so may just not have been my day.

Event comments:

Fun can't wait till next year

Course: Up and down and Up and Up....Single bike course that allows for two bodies to be in close quarters for a lot of the run. Can't really describe what this does to your legs but you are going down steep declines and then shooting back up.
