Run
Comments: The course was a little longer than 2 miles, so this is the time and distance from my Garmin, instead of the official time. Not a bad run for a short run that still managed to be pretty hilly, but I should have done better and been under 8 min./mile. Upper 30's and sunny, so warm enough to run in shorts and t-shirt, but I knew I wanted to be warm for the bike, so I had tights over my tri shorts, and a long sleeve bike jersey over my t-shirt. Was starting to get hot by the end. What would you do differently?: Run harder especially the first mile including the big hill. Transition 1
Comments: Took a little extra time because I put on jacket, gloves and balaclava, but this was just way too slow. Have to work on my transitions. Not acceptable. What would you do differently?: Move faster slowpoke! Bike
Comments: The official results have T1 included with the bike, plus the course was a little shorter than 14 miles, so this is the time and distance from my Garmin rather than the official time. I'm a little behind on my bike training for the year, and I probably should have been doing a long ride instead of racing, so I figured I should at least really push this, and not worry about the second run. I climbed well, didn't feel like I was running out of gas, and passed a good number of people while climbing. Was not as good on the descents, because I am a chicken when I get going fast. Getting into the top third overall on the bike is pretty darned good for me. I also feel like I got in a good workout even if it was pretty short. All in all, a good ride. What would you do differently?: Let it rip more on the descents. Transition 2
Comments: Was starting to feel warm, so I pulled off my jacket, long sleeve jersey, and tights so I could run in tri shorts and t-shirt. Still took too long. The woman racked right next to me came in a few seconds after me, and left about 15 seconds before me. Again, not acceptable. What would you do differently?: C'mon man, get moving! Run
Comments: The official results have T2 included with the second run, plus the course was a considerably shorter than 3 miles, so this is the time and distance from my Garmin. Was miffed that the woman next to me beat me out of transition, so I spent the whole run trying to catch her. We must have been evenly matched because I couldn't catch her, but she also didn't pull away from me. Worked out well because I really pushed myself hard and had an excellent run. What would you do differently?: Not much. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, grabbed some water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of bike training. 5 extra pounds. Event comments: First year for this race and they did a nice job. Will definitely do it again. Last updated: 2011-03-26 12:00 AM

Usual shake about 2 hours before race. Always nice to have a race less rhan a half hour from home.
About a mile and a half of easy running with a couple of pickups.
