Pre-race routine:

I had a bowl of cereal and a soda at home and drove to packet pick-up. Got on the bus and rode to the starting line and tried to keep from getting too cold. I'm glad it wasn't raining because there was no shelter near the starting area. So I just kept moving and tried to keep my toes from going numb....
Event warmup:

Light stretching and shaking out my arms and legs.

Comments:

I started out slow just to get warmed up. Around 7:30 for the first mile through the parking lot and started to increase my speed once we got to the actual trail. I found a couple runners who were holding a good pace and followed them for 7-8 miles. Then my hamstring started getting tight and I started favoring my leg a bit. Around mile 10 I noticed my pace was starting to fall off and the last 3 miles were about :30 slower and I got passed by 4-5 people.
What would you do differently?:

I think it's time to start taking nutrition during these races. I've been going without because it seems to slow me down, but this is the 2nd race in a row where I've really slowed down at the 10 mile mark. I think a GU at 5 miles and another at 8 miles might have made some difference.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around & got plenty of food and water

Event comments:

I said it was "Too easy" because there really were no hills at all. I picked this race because I haven't been running much, so the lack of hills is a plus, but my wimpy decision doesn't change the fact that it was an easy course.
