Swim
Transition 1
Comments: Very muddy...had trouble with zipper on wetsuit. Long transition area from rack to mounting bike. What would you do differently?: make sure zipper doesn't get stuck Bike
Comments: Easy bike course...very flat and very fast. Lots of drafting Transition 2
What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Did not take enough liquids on the bike and got some stomach bloat around mile 3.5 - 4. Slowed a bit What would you do differently?: drink more on the bike Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Very muddy transition area and huge!! Bike was on swim in and run out end..so bike out/in was about a 1/4 run. Event comments: This was my first Olympic and I would highly recommend as a first race. The course is extremely flat and well marked. Tons of volunteers. Great city Last updated: 2011-03-28 12:00 AM

Stayed at a great hotel in Arlington that had a fridge and microwave. Had a cup of coffee and pre-race waffles. Could not get through to any cab companies. Went down to lobby to ask desk clerk to call one and a guest offered me a ride ...wouldn't usually take a ride from a stranger but the guy was a detective (showed me his badge) from PA who does some work with the DC police dept. He even said...he'd be the worst killer since they the hotel staff saw me leave with him and he stays there all the time. Worked great...dropped me off right at transition and wished me luck...really nice guy!!
Total downpour, very dark...so mostly tried to get organized while trying to keep everything dry. Put on my wetsuit to stay warm and just tried to keep moving. Start was delayed for 15 minutes while storm moved off.
