Swim
Comments: The swim was just a cluster of confusion. It was a mass start, which I've done before, but everyone was packed into a smaller area. So the first 200 yards were pretty chaotic. Got into a decent rhythm for awhile, but I started to drift and my siting was poor. What would you do differently?: Swim more! I've only been in the pool 1 X week for the last 2 months. Transition 1
Comments: We had about a 45 sec run to T1 and then I spent about 1.30min in the transition. Felt like it went fast. No timing chips to worry about and the wetsuit slid right off. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Decent bike and considering the conditions I was pretty happy. The bike started out with a lite drizzle and then turned into a steady downpour. The first half of the bike the wind was at our backs, and then we had the headwind and rain in our faces for the return. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Just keep plugging the miles. My time was slow, but under the conditions I was happy. Transition 2
Comments: Because of the rain the transtion area was soaked. My shoes were dry in my bag, but my feet were so wet and I didn't have a dry towel to dry them. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Felt great on the run. I hadn't really run in over a week because of the knee pain, but I felt good. Got passed 3 times and I was happy with that because I usually get passed a lot on the run. What would you do differently?: Not a thing. I've only done 2 tempo runs and no speed work and I felt great. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: The rain and wind on the bike, which actually may have helped me on the run because it kept my temperature down. I was extremely happy with my run. Pretty sure I've never run that fast before. Was also happy to learn that I'll get my first medal!!! Granted I was barely in the top 3rd overall, but it's still a good feeling. Event comments: The race was the inaugural...we 'll get the official results in a few days, but pre race there were only 36 people signed up and by race start I believe that number doubled. Transition area was super tight and bikes were stacked on top of eachother. I believe in the future that this will be a great race. Last updated: 2006-03-28 12:00 AM

Woke up around 5.30, ate a Clif Bar and a banana and drank a gatorade. Spent the rest of the time trying to get the wife and daughter out of bed.
Got to the race a little later than usual, but did my usual warm up. 10 minutes of running, then 15 on the bike, then put the wetsuit on and headed to the water.
