Swim
Comments: I shaved 8 minutes of my last Olympic swim, and this swim wasn't wetsuit legal! There was a slight current in the river though so I’m sure that helped. Most of my age group still did better than me, but I'm happy with my time. The water was fine. I swam as hard as I could and I felt my sighting was on point. I still have some work to do on the swim. Transition 1
Comments: I figured without a wetsuit my T1 time would be cut in half. But still 4 minutes?! I have GOT to work on this! What would you do differently?: Get faster at transitions. Bike
Comments: This was slower than my last Olympic bike time, but this course was much hillier. As soon as we hit mile 1, there was a hill. That’s just mean! I saw a guy fall while trying to climb it, was pretty embarrassing. There were a couple of climbs on this bike, but nothing impossible. I was in my easiest gear a couple times and just grinded it out. There were some fast downhills as well though. Overall I thought the bike course was fun. It’s good to mix it up with some hills. What would you do differently?: Work on climbing. Transition 2
Comments: Not sure what took me so long honestly. What would you do differently?: Get faster at transitions. Run
Comments: This is where things fell apart. I’m really not sure what happened. I took the first mile slow, but I had to stop and walk some. I took some Gu and water and picked up it. Then the pace slowly came back down. This happened continuously. I would pick it up for a couple minutes and then slow back down, and then stop and walked a bit to get myself together mentally. I'm not really sure why I couldn't run like I know I can. What would you do differently?: Step up my run training with more speed intervals, tempo runs and BRicks. Post race
Event comments: Overall it was a good race and a good learning experience. I need to step my training up for the next one! Last updated: 2011-03-30 12:00 AM
