Run
Comments: I had 4 names on my back of people who have or had battled cancer: Abbe, Linda, Kacky, and Paul.I planned to run a 1:49 since I peaked for my A race a week ago with a 1:43, and after a few miles I knew that the heat and humidity along with the hills were going to slow me down. I was ready to tackle to 2 biggest hills at mile 4-5.5 and mile 8-9. I was aware that I was sweating more than I ever had on any running race. So I made sure I drank at every water station and took another electrolyte pill at mile 7. During the race a lot of spectators were cheering "Thank you", instead of the ususal "good job". Every nasty hill I kept thing of the 4 names on my back and all of the tough hills they encounter in their fight against cancer. It was hard for me not to cry sometimes during the race and especially after. I know, I am a sap. What would you do differently?: Pour more water on myself, one to drink, one to drench Post race
Warm down: jogged, walked, lots of stretching I wish I could have weighed myself pre and post race. I know I lost a lot of fluid on this one, more than I ever have. What limited your ability to perform faster: not acclimated to humidity yet Event comments: I gave this race a 5 rating mainly becuase it is for an excellent cause! Last updated: 2011-04-01 12:00 AM
