Swim
Comments: Water temp was fine - I'd expected it to be colder. I made the same mistake I made last year - got too excited, didn't sight, went off course, had to swim back. Then relaxed and rest of swim was fine. I was one of last out of water but I expected that with such a small field What would you do differently?: Sight and relax Transition 1
Comments: Bad but average for me Bike
Comments: Had some trouble with the 1st little hill because I wasn't expecting it (course change). Did about the same as last year, a little slower. Wind wore me out. Transition 2
Comments: Bad but average for me Run
Comments: Temp was pretty nice for running. I was pretty happy with my time especially since I found out just before the race that the distance was 4.2 instead of 3.5. Did better than last year. Post race
Warm down: Stayed for awards - got 1st place age group (no one else in my age group) Drove home - had to pull off 35 for awhile in Faribault because of rain/hail. Met my husband in Brainerd for dinner (2 desserts of course) A lot of cleanup - everything from the race was covered in mud/grass. Event comments: Most of the negatives were weather related - the sloppy transition area was unpleasant. Would have liked to know about the course change sooner. Last updated: 2011-04-01 12:00 AM

Drove down the night before since I had a 4+ hour drive. Stayed at the Knight's Inn - a bit seedy but at $44 it was just fine.
Drove to the race the next am and discovered the transition area had moved and the courses altered (apparently went back to what they had been a few years ago). Rain stopped just before race but transition area was quite sloppy.
