Run
Comments: I definitely did not expect to be able to run the whole thing. Haven't jogged more than 5 minutes at a time since surgery in December. Was just cleared to be allowed to jog to tolerance at the beginning of March but haven't done much w/ it because I still wlak w/ a limp. What would you do differently?: Walk some of the race...pay closer attention to my body durin g the race so it wouldn't hurt so much after. Post race
Warm down: Walked for a few minutes. Then had to sit down and ice the foot, top and bottom. What limited your ability to perform faster: Out of shape, foot surgery pain. Event comments: It was a great little fun run. I had a great surprise at the end...I passed two young ladies (in their 20's) in the last 1/4 mile. About 10 minutes later, I found out that they had been the female leaders...I won the whole thing! If these kids had any idea that they just got beat by a 48-year-old out of shape woman who had recently undergone a joint replacement in her foot they would be SOOO embarassed!!! Havent done a race since before my last surgery in December. This is more of a fun run than a race, so just relaxed.
Did a tiny 1-2 minute jog before the race just to see how my foot would tolerate jogging.
