Pre-race routine:

Race wasnt until 11am, so had plenty of time to get up, have coffee. Had Weaties Fuel for breakfast. Packed up stuff and hit the road at 830 - no idea how packed it woudl be for registration. Got there early (as usual) got my number then hung out in my truck listening to music.
Event warmup:

Got ready around 1030 and jogged around a bit. Then did a little stretching (very little) and talked to random people.
Run
  • 1h 39m 51s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great for the first 4-5 miles, then progressively worse. Came close to walking after being passed a bunch in the final 5 miles. Overall, hit my goal but didnt expect to struggle as much.
What would you do differently?:

More long runs for training. Probably should have had a Gu at the beginning and middle - not sure if I ran out of gas, or just tired.
Post race
Warm down:

Very sore - especially my knees. Limped around then got changed into comfortable close. Skipped the festivities, since I was alone (as usual), so just went home and showered/vegged.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Could lose 5 more lbs and put in more miles.

Event comments:

Good local race - plenty of water on course, easy to follow, good traffic control. Looked like the after-race would be fun, but not by myself. The finishers medal is very cool - made of wood by hand - nice touch. Would do this again.

Performance: Good
Did first 4 miles in 30 minutes, then went downhill from there. Last 4-5 were a struggle, but beat my goal of 1:40.
Course: A few hills in the first 4 miles, but no killers. Then downhill and flattening. Nice route - wouldnt mind it as a training run.
