Pre-race routine:

Cold and rainy day - ate a poptart and some coffee, along with a gel 15 before.

Wore Zoot Zoonies with no socks, zoot ultra shorts, armor tech + police long tech + loose short tech overtop.
Event warmup:

Bounce around to keep warm.
Run
  • 40m 47s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 05s  min/km
Comments:

Chilly enough I didn't drink any water at any of the aid stations. Shorts + long arms were perfect so no need to shed clothing.
What would you do differently?:

Faster!
Post race
Warm down:

So much food at the end of this race. Got some choco milk, an apple and a cup of coffee, and took some yogurt tubes+powerade home.

Then found the fam and ate Arby's!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental, cardio. Legs felt fine - rode 30k to work next morning.

Event comments:

Fantastic race - now that it's at Chinook (a huge mall) it's not such a gong show as when it was downtown.

Performance: Good
Left my HR strap at work. Kept pace between 3:55 and 4:10 - last lap under 3:55. Passed a lot of faders, only passed a couple times.
Course: New course this year, from Chinook north on MacLeod then west into Mission then back along Elbow. Lots of hills which caught many off guard.
