Run
Comments: Thankfully I had a spot with the first group to go off, but I still had some traffic in the first mile, which ended up at about 7:14. After that I go into a nice rhythm at about 6:45 / mi without feeling like I was pressing too hard. A few a little faster, a couple a little slower, but overall felt pretty steady. Had one gel and water around mile 6 but otherwise went without and didn't have any stomach issues. Probably started to pick it up a little too early, but held on OK for the last 2 miles. Very happy with the outcome, as this was a PR by over 3 minutes. I made a significant investment in interval training during the "off-season" through an Endurance Nation training plan, and this was a great way to start the race season. What would you do differently?: Not much.. Post race
Warm down: Metro, Donut Shack, and home by 10:30AM. What limited your ability to perform faster: Could still lose another 5-10 lbs. Event comments: This is an exceptionally well-executed event, and I was amazed at how smoothly the check-in went this year given the huge number of people checking in during the late morning. Just 2 minor things: 1) For the third year in a row, I clocked the race distance at 10.1 miles.. and 2) For the third year in a row, the awful race t-shirt is going straight to the rag pile.
