Pre-race routine:

Got there early enough (6:30) to get a good parking spot. Set up transition area. Changed into my tri suit in the bathhouse. Walked around to meet some people. Checked out the swim and it looked like a long way. Talked to Alan who did the HIM on Saturday. Watched the start of the open men and then went and put on my wetsuit.
Event warmup:

Just played around in the water a little.
Swim
  • 20m 6s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent first OWS. Kept going too far right to start and then too far left to finish. I probably swam 1000m instead of 750m.
What would you do differently?:

Pay more attention to my line.
Transition 1
  • 03m 44s
Comments:

Nursing a pulled calf muscle I was very careful taking off the wetsuit not to re-injure it and that took more time.
What would you do differently?:

Try not to be hurt before a race.
Bike
  • 44m 53s
  • 14 miles
  • 18.72 mile/hr
Comments:

Once again the bike was my strongest leg. And this was with a tight hamstring to start. After it loosened up I was OK. I didn't use my Speedplay pedals due to my calf injury.
What would you do differently?:

Don't be hurt and use my Speedplays. Also ease off a little and save more for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Already had my running shoes on so all I had to do was take off my helmet and grab my number belt. I started in the wrong direction but spectators soon had me going the right way.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure I know where the run exit is.
Run
  • 31m 26s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I really didn't have it on the run today although my time wasn't really bad. However I should have been about 30 sec/mile faster.
What would you do differently?:

Need to ease off the bike for the last couple of miles and save more for the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Just kept moving. Went to the Triwilmington tent and got something to eat and drink. Then went looking for people to talk to.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to put more time in for each event.

Event comments:

My first time to White Lake was a success! Now I need to come back for the International.
