Comments: I never found my stroke. I don't know what happened. I was fine in my warm up swim, but hit the water during the race and forgot how to swim. ![]() Transition 1

Comments: I wonder why these races would actually be like if no one drafted. I put in a couple good intervals, hammering to pass a group of 5 riders. I'd stay in front of them for while, but would be leap frogged by their pack again. Since the course wasn't technical at all there was no place to completely drop them. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Totally forgot to get out of my shoes before getting off the bike. These transitions have long runs! ![]() Run
Comments: Quickly ran down the draft pack bikers that were coming out of T2 with me. I started the race in the first wave, so there were a limited number of people in front of me. I wasn't sure how many until a little after mile 1 when a spectator told me I was running in 3rd. I caught 2nd within 800m. Since it was an out and back we got to see the 1st place runner as he was headed home. His lead was too great to run down so I just had to run for 2nd. My pace got better as I went along and added a comfortable distance between myself and 3rd. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Congratulated the 1st and 3rd finishers and ate a box of strawberries. Walked back part of the bike course looking for a missing water bottle. Later on in the day I re-rode most of the bike course again looking for the bottle. What limited your ability to perform faster: I forgot how to swim! Event comments: Great local race. Larger than a little event, but as organized and well run as anything else. Last updated: 2011-04-06 12:00 AM
