Swim
Comments: I had a pretty decent swim, other than cutting the course short. DQ'd myself after realizing I had cut the swim course short. My best guess is that I was sighting the second buoy instead of the third for the first turn, then took the wrong turn. I'm guessing I cut it about 400 meters short. If I had done the entire course, I probably would have added 10 mins to my swim time and been 5th or 6th in my AG. What would you do differently?: NOT CUT THE COURSE!!! Had a decent swim otherwise. Felt good, overall pretty comfortable. Breathing was good. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. was 11/31 for my age group. Might could have been a bit faster. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Great bike. First 2 miles, I was feeling a slight tightness in my right leg, thought it might cramp a bit, but it stretched out and had no problems after that. Pace was good at around 90% of CP. Overall, pretty good ride for me. Legs felt good, cadence was good, and HR felt comfortable for the race. Had 1 bottle Ironman Perform, 1 bottle of water, and 1 Salt Cap. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Another good transition. Could have been a bit faster, but overall good. was 5/31 for my AG. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Great Run. PR for me on a 10k. Felt good at the start, felt comfortable through mile 5. Mile 6 was a bit tough, but pushed it the last 1/2 mile and to the finish. Walked the water stations, took in fluids. Had a Gu at mile 1.5. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked around, settled down, drank some water. Was feeling pretty good about my performance, then I realized it was a little too good and got to thinking about the swim. My swim split was just too fast, so I went and DQ's myself. I would have probably finished around 2:45 and gotten 7th or 8th in my AG, had I finished the course. It was a learning experience. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cutting the course short and having to DQ myself. Otherwise, I had a pretty good performance. Would have PR'd the OLY and PR'd my 10k. Event comments: Good race, will plan on doing it again next year. Last updated: 2011-04-07 12:00 AM

Woke up and got ready for the race. Ate some oatmeal, drank some gaterade, had 2 mini clif bars. Got dressed and ready to head to the race site. Left around 6:00am, little traffic getting in, parked and got set up at transition.
Took my bike out for a short spin to make sure everything was working properly. About 20 mins prior to the start, went out and did a short swim warm up. Other than that, stretched and walked around. Felt pretty relaxed and ready to go.
