Swim
Comments: Not too shabby considering I cant swim in a straight line, the waves were slapping me around, and I drank a lot of salt water. What would you do differently?: nothing... note for future: earplugs worked like a charm. Felt good coming out of the water. No dizziness. Transition 1
Comments: Yep, I suck at transitions... just took my time to make sure I didn't forget anything. What would you do differently?: Probably nothing. The transition area was huge. For a race this distance, it's worth a few extra minutes to not kill myself in transition and not forget anything. Bike
Comments: Did better than I expected. What would you do differently?: Practice nutrition more. My body wouldnt take anything the last 10 miles. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Once again, take my time and make sure I dont forget anything... I also made a quick potty stop. Run
Comments: Stomach felt slushy at the start. Maybe too much water on the bike? Bonked out around mile 3... nashty cramp, heart rate through the roof. I had to run/walk the last 7 miles. Also, the stuff I was counting on being on the course was not as advertised... Compression calf sleeves on bike and run worked well. What would you do differently?: Not sure. My stomach just wouldnt take anything... Post race
Warm down: lay on ground. one bite on pizza, but stomach didnt want any of that! Waddle to transition, get clothes bag & bike and back to hotel for power nap. Probably gonna regret not taking ice bath... What limited your ability to perform faster: Probably just wasnt quite ready for this distance... but I still finished MOP Event comments: Great organization. Some of the stuff listed in the guide was not correct... ex: orange gatorade on bike course (it was lemon lime) and there was no coke on run course (it was pepsi... and wasnt de-fizzed). Overall, great race though! Last updated: 2011-04-10 12:00 AM
