Pre-race routine:

Woke up and had a bagel with some butter, some powerade and hit the road to the event!
Event warmup:

Light jog, not far at all.
Run
  • 19m 12s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 36s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

I wanted to keep this pace on the first run, so that I would have something left for the last run.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This course required Fat tires, so I didn't have to worry about getting my cycling shoes on. I was a little worn out from the run and was trying to rest up for the bike ride so I didn't really hustle through the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Jog with my bike, and when setting up I wouldn't place it in the furtherst spot from the Bike out and the Run out side.
Bike
  • 51m 59s
  • 10 miles
  • 11.54 mile/hr
Comments:

New bike and the first time I actually got to ride on it at all was the day before. I also had never done 10 miles on the bike continuously, at a good pace.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I'm not sure if the times for T1 and T2 were rolled into our previous leg or how that worked, but we didn't have a separate breakdown for the Transition times. I think it was most likely because the transitions were so small that it wasn't worth calculating.
What would you do differently?:

I was planning on jumping off the moving bike, but I had no energy left I was completly done.
Run
  • 19m 8s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

When I started the run I already had no energy left. I was not in good enough shape to "compete" in this race or get decent times. I should have trained a lot more, but I was very proud of myself for digging deep and passing a few people on the run that destroyed me on the bike leg.
What would you do differently?:

TRAIN MORE
Post race
Warm down:

Well I walked aroudn with my hands over my hand trying to breath for 5 minutes after the race!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Proper training, and lack of experience as I've only done a few 5Ks before this.

Event comments:

This race was fantastic! It was a very small event but considering that it was very well organized and well run. There weren't plenty of drink stations, as i indicated above, but there didn't need to be considering the distances involved.

Everyone at the race was wonderful, and I'm happy this was the start of my first season getting into duathlons and triathlons!!
