Swim
Comments: I swam with poor sighting, finding myself heading into the canoes/kayaks at one point. Oops. Up a slippery boat dock and asphalt drive hill back to transition where the timing mat was, adding some time to the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit got stuck on my timing chip and left heel. Forgot the body glide pre-race. Then I managed to be halfway out of transition with my bike when I realized I forgot to stuff my nutrition in my pockets. I leaned the bike on the fence and ran back. Rookie mistakes = long transition. Bike
Comments: Nearing 50mph on the two huge downhills, crawling on the uphills. Those uphills sapped so much energy. Very windy, and the course changed direction so often that we got to experience tailwinds, crosswinds, and headwinds. The last few miles into the park were against a nasty gusting wind. Transition 2
Comments: Kind of a lazy transition, but I was enjoying the day at this point and not hustling for some reason. Run
Comments: Felt pretty smooth until mile four, when I had a right quad cramp and had to walk/stretch for 30 seconds. After doing that and downing a bunch of sport beans, the cramp went away and I could run again. I also walked through three aid stations to be sure I could get enough to drink. Post race
Warm down: Cheered Rob through the finish, grabbed some grub, and hit the road home. Event comments: I had fun, it was a nice event with good participants and volunteers. I can't help worrying that one of these years someone is going to get seriously injured on "Twister Hill" and that might be the end of this tri. Last updated: 2011-04-11 12:00 AM

Up early for breakfast of cereal and juice. Pack up the Jeep. Broke the valve stem out of my front race wheel, then decided I didn't have the time to fix it. Switched over to my training wheel and hit the road.
Set up transition, put on wetsuit, and then spent too much time and energy worrying about the frigid water (~55 degrees). Thanks to Rob for convincing me it wasn't so bad. Swam back and forth a bit, getting used to the cold water on my face.
