woke up at 4 and ate banana and chocolate milk ice slushie mixed in blender I brought to hotel room (sorry neighbors)

pushed it a bit on the bike -
took nutrition every 20 min (300 cal/hour)
didn't finish all my water which was a mistake (see run)

hydrate more and save some for the run

i knew something was up when i couldn't remember how to unlatch my helmet. didn't realize it, but heat was getting to me.

worst.run.ever. was sub 8 min mile for 3 miles and then just melted down. had to walk quite a bit between aid stations to get my heart rate down. fell in love with the sprayers to stay cool, but ended up soaking my shoes early. soggy feet and heavy legs.
What would you do differently?:

hydrate more during bike
hydrate less in shoes

the sun

i had high expectations for this race as my second him. felt really disappointed that i couldn't better my time from steelhead last year, but conditions obviously played a big part. well run and great volunteers, aid stations, and community support. i swore off tri's afterward, but now looking for a redemption event already!
