Pre-race routine:

Ate a bowl of brown rice farina before I left the house.Got there early , got transition setup. Talked to John Smith and Patrick Bliss, Wade Whisler. Really had a relaxing morning. Ate a banana with about a 1/2 hr to go.Ran into Wendell, whom I hadn't seen since last year...talked to him while we were waiting for our wave to start....
Event warmup:

Really no warm up, did chew my foot up good jumpimg into the water. Felt like I had meat hanging off of it, but I was fine....
Swim
  • 32m 37s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got of course a bit on the way back in. Cost me some time but overall, definate improvements from last year. Definately helped getting wetsuit on properly. Had a few wrinkles up on my shoulders and really gave me some more range of motion. Made it easier to relax and just swim. Was a bit over 2 minutes faster than my best swim at this distance last year...
What would you do differently?:

Pay better attention to sighting, can't loose focus for a second...
Transition 1
  • 02m 36s
Comments:

Thought I had made sopme progress on my T1 time but this just sucked for some reason. Just gotta start going sockless. I ride that way the majority of the time. I wasnt sure how quick it was gonna get hot so I opted to put them on now as opposed to T2...
What would you do differently?:

Went sockless for the ride.
Bike
  • 75m 9s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride, I didn't feel as though EVERYONE was passing me, like last year. Shaved about 8 minutes of my best Oly ride from last year....
What would you do differently?:

Not much other than get into better shape.....
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

Decent transition, was a bit slower than usual but I can't think of anything that went wrong.Put my race belt on while I was already running. I was hustling, I knew Wade was right behind me...
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...
Run
  • 56m 17s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Was getting warm on the 2nd loop. Was running into Wade at every turnaround on the course....Was really pushing it! He was literally right behind me the whole time. Made for a great race. I really appreciated the friendly competitiveness. We really pushed each other today, and made it a fun race.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I didn't feel I could have pushed any harder than I did. I probably pushed a little too hard on the bike the 2nd loop, I was riding with about 3 other people the whole bike ride and it really helped all of us stay focused on pushing it..
Post race
Warm down:

Walked some and talked to Wade for awhile.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Base, baby! More base!

Event comments:

Great race, love Red Rock events. Really enjoyed today! Couldn't have asked for more. It was a PR by over 10 minutes for an Oly....that really made me feel good about this race. Really felt some mental tools I picked up at Marquee helped me stay pushing hard on the run...
