Comments:

This was where the day fell apart. I took two water bottles and plenty of nutrition but I missed the first aid station getting a Gatorade so by the time I got to the second I was out of fluid. I got a Gatorade at the second but shortly after, there was a bump going over a bridge and that was ejected from my holder. I should've stopped to get it but I was stupid. I also dropped my first electrolyte pill and didn't take the second so I was going south quickly after the halfway point. I got my second electrolyte pill and some water at the last aid station but I missed the Gatorade again. I tried to use the pills I had saved up for the run but the zip-lock had gotten water in it during the swim so they were basically mush. I tried to suck what I could out of the zip lock but I'm afraid I didn't get much.

So basically I did the entire ride on two bottles of Gatorade and one bottle of water with 1.5 electrolyte tabs instead of 5 of fluid and 3 tabs. Bad news for the cramping legs.
What would you do differently?:

nutrition, nutrition, nutrition.
Transition 2
  • 02m 31s
Run
  • 2h 20m 29s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

This is where the lack of nutrition caught up to me. I cramped up within .5 miles of starting off and really never got past it. Stopping and massaging at every aid station and drinking Gatorade I muddled through but it was nasty...as the time attests.
Post race
Warm down:

walking around trying to uncramp

Event comments:

lessons learned ...take the third bottle just in case you miss the first aid station and have extra electrolyte tabs. Maybe eat more on the bike but I think I ate a lot so maybe that was fine.
