Run
Comments: Not my best run. I thought I was pushing a really hard pace, but last time I did this race I was a full minute faster here. Guess I need to just accept that my running speed is not up to par right now. What would you do differently?: Train more Transition 1
Comments: In and out pretty quick. First time racing with the aero helmet and its much tighter than my regular one, so that took an extra second or two. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Considering my sparse bike training so far, I thought this ride went well. Tried to push a hard pace right away and caught lots of people in the process, then I had a long back and forth with #82. That ended when we got to the big hill and I pulled away from him, I thought for good. But my legs got deja vu from two years ago and cramped after cresting the hill AGAIN. As I was punching the cramps out of my calves #82 passed me. What would you do differently?: Not cramp! Don't know what it is about that hill that makes that happen to my calves. Transition 2
Comments: Superfast transition. Even though he came into T2 a bit ahead of me, I came out onto the run course right behind #82. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: No one else was within sight, so my only goal was to eventually overtake #82, and not allow anyone else to pass. I followed #82 until the turn around and then made my pass. I noticed he struggled on the smaller hills, and I put him away for good on the bigger one near the end. What would you do differently?: I probably could've ran this a little faster with someone else to catch (or keep back), but given my standing in the race this went well. Post race
Warm down: Shook hands with #82 and a few others I saw out there, chatted with Jamie and Lisa, and looked for Andrew to congratulate him on a great race (and for kicking my butt). What limited your ability to perform faster: Inconsistent traing to this point. I hope to have better training plans for each week going foward. Event comments: I really enjoy this race. Its a nice venue with a great group of people, both racers and volunteers. The post race food layout is really good for a race this size, and they hand out plaques for the top 3 of each age group. Ate breakfast, packed up my stuff and headed to the venue.
Rode the 2 mile run course, then went for a short job with a couple strides.
