Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5am to get ready and ride metro and then shuttle to start.
After getting off the shuttle, walked 10 minutes to race site.
Ate a bagel with PB and a banana before leaving the house and then a GU, a banana and some gatorate before the race.
Event warmup:

Hit the port-a-potties and then headed over to the corral. Not much time to waste.

Comments:

Before the race even started, I needed to go to the bathroom again (drinking too much before the race started, I guess). I spotted some port-a-potties before the 1 mile marker and decided to wait in line to get it over with. Overall stop was about 3:30.
Ditched bottle of 1/2 water, 1/2 gatorade at about the 1.5 mile marker.
Left hip started hurting at about 2 mile mark. Not sure what that was about, but I felt it the rest of the run. I managed to continue to run though and didn't walk.
Saw Tim and Brad at about mile 9 and they ran with me until almost the end, which was great!
What would you do differently?:

Try to go to the bathroom closer to the race start so I wouldn't have to stop on the course. Not the end of the world though.
Post race
Warm down:

Found Tim and Brad and stretched a lot. Grabbed some food and water and then caught the shuttle back to the metro stop.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Left hip pain. Not sure what I can do about that. Would have liked a faster time, but was happy to get in the 10 miles without walking. I guess more longer runs in training will help my overall time and may help the hip pain.

Event comments:

Overall, a great race. It was organized and the shuttle system was surprisingly hassle free! There were drink stations every 2.5 miles. I think they could have used more simply because they were very crowded. Also, instead of drinking only 4 times on the course, I would have preferred to drink smaller amounts more often (if there were stations every mile).
The race has a lot of participants, but I never felt smothered by everyone. And for how many people ran, everything went smoothly.

Course: Course was a few out and backs. We first crossed a bridge and did a loop near the Mint and past the GW Memorial. The course then crossed the Memorial bridge and went around the circle and then back across the bridge. The final out and back was on the Rock Creek Parkway. There were a few slight hills and the road on the parkway was insanely slanted causing some discomfort.
