Total Time = 49m 14s
Overall Rank = 9/880
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/30
Pre-race routine:

PB/Nutella toast and organic pop tart. EFS drink. Sipped EFS liquid shot.
Event warmup:

Jogged 2 mile run course.
Swim
  • 04m 7s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 15s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started in a wave of 30-39 Veterans. Took it out hard and kept uptempo pace. Dropped the last guy from my feet by the first buoy. No one to draft. Caught one from previous wave. Very dizzy upon exit from low water temp and fast swim.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

Everything went well until I had to get my shoes on. Hit a bump and my ONE EFS torpedo mounted bottle flew out and down a ditch. Had to stop, but a police officer ran it down and back up to me. Thanks boss.
What would you do differently?:

Start sprints with bottle down on the frame. Move it up if road conditions permit
Bike
  • 30m 51s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 21.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike legs felt tired and wasn't ready for all the hills. Gear changes were rough in spots. Didn't ride race wheels or aero helmet.
What would you do differently?:

Not ride 30 miles at 20mph avg the day before...but this was a C race
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Dismount line was a little further than I expected and got out of my shoes too early on a hill. Dismount went well. Miscalculated where run exit was and ran too much in the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Know exactly where the run exit is.
Run
  • 11m 52s
  • 2 miles
  • 05m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran hard, but got content towards the end when I realized I had one both 30-34 and 35-39 AG. Just a workout race.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

mile or so run with stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Galveston 70.3 a week earlier and limited rest during the week

Event comments:

Glad they moved the race to Decker Lake. Much better venue than TSR in New Braunfels. Glad to have 1/6 races in the Texas Tri Series in the bag.
