Total Time = 1h 21m 33s
Overall Rank = 151/234
Age Group = 35 - 39
Age Group Rank = 12/19
Pre-race routine:

Woke up a 4:15 got a shower and headed out the door with me wife around 5:00. Had a protein bar for breakfast and a hammer gel just before the race. The protein bar never sat well with me. Not exactly sure why it didn't.
Event warmup:

Swam about 100 yards and stretched.
Swim
  • 12m 21s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

It seems like the course gets longer each time I race it. Started it out good and after about 200 yards in, it just all fell apart. Got kicked in the head while talking a breathe and swallowed a little to much water. Never really recovered from that until about the last 50 yards.
What would you do differently?:

I guess the only answer for the swim is to get out and swim more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

Was so bent out of shape about my swim going so badly that I really don't remember much about T1.
What would you do differently?:

Going to try and bike and run with no socks for my next race. I'll be able to leave my shoes clipped on and trim a little time off of T1.
Bike
  • 36m 19s
  • 12.8 miles
  • 21.15 mile/hr
Comments:

First race on my new cervelo p2. Picked up almost 1 mph from the race before. Time was better but the ride felt like a struggle.
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Everything went smoothly.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 30m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Once again the run felt like a huge struggle.
What would you do differently?:

Run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Got in the pond to cool off and swam about 100 yards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure if it was the cause but I really let my nutrition slip the few days before the race. Saturday was my birthday and we had chicken wings and brownie and ice cream for dessert the night before. I hoping that had some effect on why the whole race felt like such a struggle. I set a PR but it felt like my worst race yet.

Event comments:

Race 3 of a 5 race series. Each time my time is improving. Hope to be able to make a more significant improvement before the next race. If not in my time but the way I felt through the entire race.
