Swim
Comments: Felt pretty rough going out again. I'm not sure if it's race-day nerves or swimming first thing in the morning. Settled in after the first couple hundred and finished fairly well. Swim results include the run from the water up to transition which, for me, was probably around 45 seconds. What would you do differently?: Try some early morning swims to see if that's a factor. Do a much longer warmup. Transition 1
Comments: Transition went fairly well. Rather than put on my computer, I held it for the first bit and then stashed it in my bento box. What would you do differently?: Start with the computer in the bento box or ditch it completely for sprint races. Bike
Transition 2
Comments: Second transition was pretty fast. I did stop for a second to squirt some water from my bottle on my head as it was getting pretty hot. Run
Comments: I just restarted running short distances a couple weeks ago due to a knee injury. Given the lack of run training, I'm happy with the results. What would you do differently?: Come into the race healthier with a better running base. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and then stood in the lake for a few minutes to cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat and humidity, particularly on the run, were rough. Other than that, just training limitations. Event comments: This is a fun local race with a good vibe. There were some organization difficulties but that's to be expected since it's the first year for the race. I'd like to see some aid stations, mile markers, and better course measurements next year. That said, it was a fun race and I'd do it again. I hope the organizers bring it back for 2011. Last updated: 2011-04-27 12:00 AM

Woke up a couple hours early and had a fig cereal bar and a cup of coffee.
Short warmup of a hundred yards or so in the lake.
