Total Time = 1h 32m 3s
Overall Rank = 17 wm/67 wm
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/15
Swim
  • 18h 15m 88s
  • 750 meters
  • 2h 26m 12s / 100 meters
Comments:

First open water swim. Was crowded, particularly at the start. Water was very merky couldn't see people to draft them. Had a lot of trouble with goggles fogging up, made navigation difficult. Last lap was coming back into the sun so navigation was very difficult with foggy goggles. Overall not bad for first open water experience though.
What would you do differently?:

Put a little more water in googles to help with the fogging problem. Maybe start a little closer to the front.
Transition 1
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

Not bad getting out of wetsuit. Slowed down because everything had to be bagged in plastic bag to be taken to the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

Put some body glide on my neck. The wetsuit rubbed the back of my neck.
Bike
  • 40h 14m 56s
  • 15 miles
  • 0.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Flet like a rock star on the bike! Passed lots of people and lots of guys. Was in 10th place for women after the bike leg.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 51m 65s
Comments:

Pretty clean transition. Fumbled a little getting shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Probably need to start practicing getting feet out of shoes while still on bike.
Run
  • 30h 43m 70s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 9h 52m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Improved from last sprint race by 4 minutes, but still not competative on the run. Dragging the first half of run, then as run progressed I felt stronger and stronger. Need to really focus on speed training for run.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Proper run pace training.

Event comments:

A little confusing the day before. Finding locations of split transitions was a little difficult, no maps or directions provided at race check-in. Out of state racers kind of treated like second class racers. Race results posted seperately and not broken into age groups. Not eligible for race prizes. Course was very pretty though, water was warm. I will probably do this race again next year.
