with the extra lab I was 12th

Took a minute off last years time though
What would you do differently?:

Stop and verify the lap count. That would have taken less time then swimming an entire extra lap!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I really am not to unhappy considering I hadn't been able to train hardly at all the last about 6 weeks prior to the race. I hadn't done a brick workout for months. I knew it was going to be a struggle. I still took off about 2:20 seconds from last years over all time. My goal was a 1:35:00 and without the extra swim lap I would have probably had a 1:35:30. Overall pretty happy with my performance.

Event comments:

A well organized race. Good competition for a small town race.

Swam an additional lap because the lap counter didn't put the red board in the water on last lap. Lesson learned, I should have stopped and asked her as I was thinking I should be done. Probably swam a 10:30 actually.

Felt o.k. coming out of the transition. I think better than any race before as far as feeling like my legs were working and I could stride out a little more. In the second mile there is a long hill to climb. Was probably at an 11:00 min/mile pace going up, that really killed me. Coming down I was able to stride out better and had a good kick for the last 1/4 mile-ish of the race. Passed one gal and worked hard to keep her behind me at the end. I was proud that I didn't let her pass me.
