Swim
Comments: After the turn to shore, it was bananas. I swam nearly the entire race with out getting beat up and after the turn I got kicked in the head and a girl breast striking got me in the ribs. What would you do differently?: The end cost me time, I need to get better at getting through the log jams and not letting the kicking and clobbering get to me. Transition 1
Comments: The distance from the swim to transition was seemed long to me. After getting to my bike I realized I was standing in from of all my stuff thinking "what do I do?" I hear my biggest fan telling me to take off my cap and but on my helmet, I felt like he knew I was a little out of it from the swim. After putting on my bike stuff I was off and feeling good. What would you do differently?: I must incorporate practice transitions into my training sessions, so I am like a robot. Bike
Comments: I know that this is my weak spot, I have time to get stronger before my HIM. Over all not to shabby for just learning how to ride last July! What would you do differently?: Get more comfortable flying down hills. Get stronger at climbs, learn when to shift and pop up. Transition 2
Comments: Putting on socks take me too long but I will get mad blisters if I skip this step. What would you do differently?: Get faster at putting socks on, find a different material that slide on easier. Run
Comments: I need to get longer bricks in. I generally run after a long ride, just never that long. The first mile my legs were crud. I had a few good miles followed by a few very difficult miles but pulled it together to finish the last mile strong. Seeing my beau at mile 4.5 was key, actually got a little emotional when I saw him and ran over for some sugar! That helped me pull it together in the end. What would you do differently?: Longer runs after bike w/o. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Had never put that kind of distance together in training before. My legs were toast on the run. Event comments: Race was well run. My finishers metal has a spinning Liberty Bell :) Challenging for a first Oly but hey ya gotta start somewhere! Last updated: 2011-04-29 12:00 AM
