Swim
Comments: Approximately 3/4 was a swim, then 1/4 you could either swim or run in the water as it was shallow. I would have preferred swimming however with people in front of me running in the water, it was hard to swim. I then ran the water and it really sapped my energy What would you do differently?: Wear a wet suit. Even though I was comfortable swimming in a lake/quarry, I would at least get two swims prior to race day. Transition 1
Comments: My feet were numb during and after the swim. After the mount line it was up hill. I had trouble coasting and clipping into my pedals. I wasted at least 30 seconds. What would you do differently?: Practice clipping into pedals. Or, keep shoes clipped in pedals, then beging pedalling and strap in. Bike
Comments: I expected to perform a little better on the bike. My feet were numb for the entire bike due to the swim. Next time I will insert the warm soles into the shoe. What would you do differently?: Prior to the race I will practice my climbs. I am typically strong on climbs and should use this to my advantage. Also, during my training I will work on flexibility in the aero position, primarily my neck. It was tight in the beginning of the bike. Transition 2
Comments: I took my time because my feet were still numb. I didn't want to hurt myself for the run. What would you do differently?: Keep shoes clipped in pedals, then beging pedalling and strap in. Also, during the bike I would have taken a Shot Blox in preparation for the run. Run
Comments: Horrible run. I think this was due primarily with being sick the entire week before the race (ear and sinus infection prevented me from training). What would you do differently?: Nothing I could do differently, except prepare better by logging more miles at a quicker pace. Post race
Warm down: Walking. Eating and drinking (Muscle Milk, IronMan, H2O in small amounts to not over indulge. Eating Bannanas. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being sick the entire week before the race (ear and sinus infection prevented me from training). Event comments: My first triathlon...it was a great experience. I don't have anything other race to compare against. Last updated: 2011-04-29 12:00 AM

Light stretching to stay loose. No actual warm up...spent time getting transitiion area set up and mentally going through T1 and T2. No warm up may have hurt me as I typically warm up prior to my hard training and bricks.
