Run
Comments: There was SO many people at this race! The first mile or two felt more like an off-road race, jumping up on curbs, dodging race-walkers, jumping down off curbs, etc. Did I mention how many people there were? Anyways, once the runners thinned out, everything came together. I ran into The Bear about a half a mile from the finish line. He ended up pushing ahead, but it was nice to know I wasn't THAT far off. I had hopes of this being a sub-50 race, but in reality, I knew that wasn't going to happen. I'm happy with my performance, and I got to meet a few great BT-ers along the way! What would you do differently?: Nothin'. I had a good time. Post race
Warm down: Got some water, then some Gatorade, then some jumbalaya. Then some beer. Walked down and brought a cold beverage to the BT crew that had walked the course. Heard them announce the winners, all of which were from Kenya. I think they said the winner had a time of 27:47. Seriously, who runs a 10k that fast? That's ridiculous! What limited your ability to perform faster: My lazy ass training schedule! Event comments: This was a great race, and it was good to finally put some faces to some names. Thanks again to the BT crew that was there for making me feel so welcome! Hopefully I'll meet up with them all again in the future. Last updated: 2006-04-05 12:00 AM

Had to get up super early (4am) to get out to Slidell to pick up a friend that needed a ride to work. Anyways, as I was parking, met up with a few other BT-ers, and we caught the bus down to the starting line. Once we got downtown, I got to watch the other BT-ers, who decided to dress up, get interviewed by a local media group. I was the official picture taker, so it was A LOT of fun to watch these guys getting interviewed and watch the reaction the other racers had. BT ruled this race!. Side note: this was a VERY crowded race: 16,000+, yes, 16 THOUSAND people.
