Swim
Comments: 5 of us were in the lane. I was going to go 4th as the last guy said he was not a good swimmer and the rest of the guy said they had faster times then me. I started out too strong, passed the 3rd guy, then he quickly passed me back. Goggles started to fog up. I had a really tough time doing my first swim with feet and arms flailing so close by. I also pushed too hard at first. Once I realized what I was doing I slowed down to a steady pace and finished up not too bad. What would you do differently?: Go slower off the line. Transition 1
Comments: Strategy to dry my feet before trying to put on my socks got lost in the rush. Ended up put my socks on wet feet. Other then slipping in the shoes while running with the bike everything else went fairly well. When I got on the bike I forgot how cool it was out and forgot about putting on my shirt. Turned out I didn't need it anyway. What would you do differently?: Need to work on running in my socks and mounting the bike with the shoes clipped in already. Bike
Comments: Once on the bike I got into the groove quickly. Pass 2 people right away. Was holding a good 19 mph pace for quite a while. Quickly warmed up so I was glad I did not grab the shirt.Started to have stomach area pains, but worked on some deep breathing and the pain went away. Never could catch the 2 people in front of me. Got passed by an Elite biker near the end. What would you do differently?: Need to work on more hill training and general riding. MORE MILES. Transition 2
Comments: Did not get a chance to train with the elastic laces. Was able to transition fairly quickly. I am pleased with my time. What would you do differently?: Work on getting my feet on my bike shoes and not having my shoes falls off. Need to get the elastics laces going. Run
Comments: Started off slow as I could feel my energy level was not there. Probably due to the lack of food. Kept a slow steady pace. Had a hard time getting my breathing into a good rhythm. At about 1.25 miles I walked for about 100 yrds. I was able to finish the race without stopping. I had no energy to sprint at the end. What would you do differently?: More miles. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for a short while. Grabbed one of the last Gatorade. Was kind of rushed as the organizers wanted the transition area cleaned up soon. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training the weeks before the race Event comments: I liked this race and will probably do it again next year. We'll see. Got to race early ~6:15 for a 7:00 race. Drove the bike course. Got back to the base area at 6:55, lots of people starting to show up. Parked and setup transition area quickly. Walked around to check out the school and the finishing stretch.
Did basic stretches. Did not do anything else.
