Comments: Great race overall. PLanned for sub-4hr, but new it would be close. Headwind plus some slower group riding in the first half killed my chances. Two nutrition cjhanges that made a big difference: 1.) Saltstix tabs every hour really kept the camping away 2.) Took a bottle of half coke (flat) and half water which I drank in the last 20 km. Went down well and gave me good boost. What would you do differently?: Everything went great, but I should have gone faster. There were stages in the frist half when I was riding in a groupn that slowed and I knew we needed to keep the pace up or we would suffer on the back end. I should have dropped them and gone on my own, but was scared of riding big distance on my own in the headwind too early. Post race
Warm down: 4 chocolate milks; Cold towel on head PLayed with kids and Izzy What limited your ability to perform faster: Not trusting my training. I still had more to give at the end.
